| Hi, fellow
EBAers! Welcome to EBA 2008! I hope you guys are excited for another awesome season. As you all know, the first game starts this Sunday, March 23rd. On behalf of the EBA Core Team, I apologize for the short notice, but we've been swamped with planning and things are finally somewhat settled. Before we get into the teams and schedule, I'd like to recap some of the major rules of participating in EBA. 1. Every player must attend a full church service or fellowship meeting for the week they want to play (we assume this will be every week). If you guys have any questions or issues around this, please let me know. This will be on an honor system since we won't be hounding you every week, but please try to be honest. The reason we have this rule is so those of you who do go to church regularly prioritize your Sundays and not just show up for games and not to church. For those who don't go to church regularly, we'd like you to check it out and see what it's all about. Please feel free to ask me for information about churches or fellowships. 2. Game attendance: Signing up for EBA comes with a responsibility to your team and to those who planned EBA. Please try to attend every game. Your teammates will miss what you bring to the team (both on and off the court) and all the planning and preparation for this league will be for naught if you don't show up. If for any reason you cannot attend most games, please notify me. Also, please notify your captain for games you may miss. 3. Technical fouls will be assessed for swearing, abusive language or fighting. Everyone gets annoyed at referees at one point or another, but please realize that everyone who is reffing is volunteering and taking time out of their busy lives so we can even have a league. More importantly, they'll most likely be a friend and you don't want something as dumb as arguing about a call cause a riff in a friendship. Please try your best to understand this and keep your cool. 4. Cost: $20. Bring it Sunday if you have not paid yet. Checks can be made to Evangelical Chinese Church. Lastly, EBA only works if everyone helps out. At some point or another, we will ask you scorekeep, cleanup, referee, or something else. Please be available to help out, even if we don't ask. We don't want to have the same people doing all the work every week. Also, please understand that the EBA core team tried their best to make the teams as even as possible. We don't want to hear complaints about how bad your team is. There will be a one or two week evaluation window where we may adjust teams. Please understand that creating teams is more of an art form than a science, but we will try our best to adjust for our initial mistakes to make EBA as competitive as possible. EBA Core Team |
